Mario Götze scored in his 300th Bundesliga match as Eintracht Frankfurt drew 1-1 with Union Berlin.
Fifteen years after making his Bundesliga debut for Borussia Dortmund at the age of 17, Götze, now 32, marked his milestone appearance by scoring the opening goal, contributing to his team's hard-fought draw in the German capital.
"It's sensational that I've now played 300 Bundesliga games," Götze remarked, expressing pride in his achievement. "If I think back to when I was a little boy, I would have wished for it to happen like this. So I'm very proud. It's nice that I scored, but in the end it wasn't that difficult. I just had to stand there and finish it."
Reflecting on the match, Götze acknowledged the challenge posed by Union Berlin, stating, "It's hard to take anything away from Union here. Even if you look at their previous games, they're on course for the Champions League at home. It was high intensity and in the end we can be happy with the point."
He further noted, "We were much better in the first half. You have to create chances to hurt your opponent. We didn't do that in the second half and that was missing. In the end, we can be happy to take the point when we were a man down," referring to the sending off of teammate Arthur Theate.
