Nagelsmann Says World Cup Opportunity Remains for Stiller, Beier, and Other Omitted Germany Players

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann said the door remains open for players who just missed the squad for this month’s friendlies to still be considered for World Cup selection. He explained that selections are not judged solely on short-term form and emphasized the importance of fitting specific roles within the team.

After confirming the squad for the friendlies against Switzerland and Ghana, Nagelsmann addressed questions from journalists about the thinking behind the selections.

Several notable absentees, including Angelo Stiller, Maximilian Beier, Karim Adeyemi, and Yann Aurel Bisseck, were not ruled out of World Cup contention, with the coach noting that conversations would determine whether each player fits the required role.

Nagelsmann stated that he does not see Stiller in the starting eleven and indicated the position will be filled differently. He also suggested that only one or two of Adeyemi, Beier, and Kevin Schade would join the World Cup squad, with Schade highlighted as having a chance to prove himself in the third camp.

He compared Beier and Adeyemi as high scorers but noted Schade’s lack of a similar goal record at Brentford, adding that Schade has shown improved comfort and potential in the camp.
