Augsburg vs. Stuttgart Preview: Visitors Push Forward in Pursuit of UCL Qualification

Stuttgart travels to Augsburg aiming to extend a five-match unbeaten run in the Bundesliga as the teams meet at WWK Arena.

Augsburg enter the fixture in 10th place with 9 wins, 4 draws and 13 defeats from 26 league games, sitting seven points above the relegation zone and seeking to strengthen their 15-year top-flight stay. They will look to respond after back-to-back away losses to RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund and will be aiming to extend their home form, having won each of their last three matches at the WWK Arena as part of an eight-game unbeaten run (W5, D3). They have kept five clean sheets in those home games, and will try to blunt Stuttgart’s away-goal threat, having netted 29 times in 13 away league matches. A positive defensive display could help Augsburg claim their first win over Stuttgart since October 2021.

Team news for Augsburg sees injuries to Yannik Keitel and Chrislain Matsima, with a positive update as captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw is fit to feature for the first time in 2026.

Stuttgart, who exited European competition after a defeat in Porto, focus fully on domestic duties. They sit fourth in the Bundesliga after 15 wins, five draws and six losses from 26 matches, level on points with RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim in the chase for a Champions League place. The team has won three and drawn two of their last five league games since a February 7 loss to St. Pauli, and hold an eight-win record in nine meetings with Augsburg, including a 3-2 victory in the reverse fixture in November.

Jamie Leweling could return for Stuttgart after missing the Porto match with an injury. Predicted lineups feature Nübel in goal for Stuttgart and a midfield/midfield-forward setup that includes Tomás and El Khannouss, with Undav leading the attack.
