The 17-year-old center-back Cassiano Kiala has suffered a season-ending injury, tearing his syndesmotic ligament during the Algarve Cup. He is expected to be sidelined for at least three months.
As a result, Filip Pavić from the U-17 team will train more regularly with the first team to fill the gap in the squad.
Prior to the injury, Kiala had made his debut in a brief appearance off the bench in a 4-0 victory over Heidenheim under head coach Vincent Kompany. He was also named on the bench for the club’s Champions League squad on three occasions during the league phase.
