Kane's second-half brace secures 10-man Bayern victory over Union Saint-Gilloise

Bayern Munich secured a 2-0 home win over Union Saint-Gilloise in an empty Südkurve, with Harry Kane scoring twice in the second half to seal the result and help the hosts maintain second place in the Champions League standings.

The match was played behind closed doors at the stadium. Bayern attacked early as a Luis Díaz cross fell to Kane, but the ball was cut out by Kjell Scherpen at his feet. Union Saint-Gilloise then settled and built a defensive shape that kept Bayern at bay.

Before the half-hour mark, Union had their first real chance when Promise David headed a cross from the right straight at Manuel Neuer, who saved.

Approaching half-time, a corner from Joshua Kimmich reached the back post and Raphaël Guerreiro steered wide as Kane looked on disconsolately, hoping the ball would fall to him.

The second half brought more life from Bayern. Kane headed in a Michael Olise corner in the 52nd minute to give the hosts the lead, and three minutes later he was fouled by Scherpen in the box, earning a penalty that he converted for his second of the evening.

Bayern then went down to ten men after Kim Min-Jae received a second yellow card for a pull back on Florucz, prompting changes with Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito entering the field to bolster the defense.

Despite the setback, Bayern controlled possession and sought a third, with Kane nearly completing a hat-trick when Van de Perre handled in the box, earning a second penalty that Kane struck against the crossbar. The final 10 minutes passed with limited chances beyond a late Olise miss as Bayern saw out the win.

The result marked Bayern's 250th victory in Europe’s premier competition, securing three crucial points.
