
There has been a change in the sporting director position at Hannover 96, as confirmed by the 2. Bundesliga club.
Marcus Mann is departing from Hannover 96 after more than four years, with the club announcing his move to Austrian team RB Salzburg.
Mann has signed a contract with RB Salzburg that will extend until 2030. In his farewell statement, he expressed his emotional connection to Hannover 96, stating, "Leaving Hannover 96 is very difficult for me. I was always fully committed during these four and a half years and have grown very fond of the club, the city, and the people."
He continued, "Therefore, it wasn't an easy decision to take on a new challenge. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has accompanied me on my journey."
Jörg Schmadtke has been appointed as Mann's successor and will officially assume the role on January 1, 2026, with a commitment to the position until 2029.
Martin Kind, chairman of the H96 supervisory board, expressed confidence in Schmadtke's appointment, stating, "I am very pleased that we have been able to secure the services of Jörg Schmadtke, an expert with extensive experience, to shape the sporting future of Hannover 96. He stands for a structured approach, decisiveness, and ultimately, successful work."
