Bayern and Frankfurt Face Significant UEFA Fines and Temporary Bans on Supporters

UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Panel has announced sanctions against Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich for unacceptable fan behavior during recent matches.

Eintracht Frankfurt has been penalized for the use of fireworks and for causing disturbances during their December 9 game against FC Barcelona. As part of the sanctions, Frankfurt will not be allowed to sell tickets to away fans for their next UEFA club competition match against FK Qarabag scheduled for January 21, 2026. Additionally, the club has been fined €30,000 for fireworks use and throwing objects, along with an €8,000 fine for property damage to the away section toilets. Frankfurt is also required to contact Barcelona within 30 days to address the damage caused by their supporters during the match, which ended in a 2-1 defeat.

Similarly, Bayern Munich faces mirrored penalties due to their fans' use of fireworks during a UEFA Champions League match. A partial closure of sectors 111–114 in the Allianz Arena will be enforced for their upcoming game against Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21, 2026. Bayern Munich has received a €30,000 fine and a partial closure of the Südkurve for another home game as part of a suspended sentence over a two-year probationary period. Furthermore, they were fined €70,000 for thrown objects, crowd disturbances, and transmitting inappropriate messages during a match against Arsenal. An additional €16,000 fine was imposed for blocking public passageways, as per UEFA's review.
