Freiburg extended their unbeaten run in the Europa League with a 0-0 draw against Viktoria Plzen.
Despite their recent efficiency on the road against Nice, Freiburg struggled throughout the first half in Plzen. The team generated several opportunities in the final third but failed to execute the decisive pass near the box.
In contrast, Plzen began to assert themselves as the match progressed and thought they had taken the lead in the 38th minute. Rafiu Durosinmi connected with a well-placed inswinging corner, heading the ball into the net from six yards out. However, the goal was disallowed due to a foul by Vaclav Jemelka on Freiburg's Phillip Lienhart.
Heading into halftime, the match remained scoreless, with Plzen having the upper hand. Freiburg's coach, Julian Schuster, made adjustments after the break, bringing in Eintracht Frankfurt loanee Igor Matnovic to replace Junior Adamu, who had struggled in the first half.
Despite these changes, Freiburg continued to have difficulty finding their rhythm, and both teams displayed a lack of quality throughout the match. Durosinmi came close for Plzen in the 81st minute with a side-footed volley, but it lacked the necessary direction to challenge Freiburg's goalkeeper, Noah Atubolu.
As neither side was able to find the back of the net, the match concluded in a stalemate. While Freiburg may feel disappointed with the result, they remain unbeaten in the Europa League and are on track for an automatic spot in the round of 16.
