Kompany Offers Support for Nicolas Jackson Amid Public Dissent

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has defended Nicolas Jackson against the criticism he has faced since joining on loan from Chelsea.

Nicolas Jackson has encountered significant scrutiny since his transfer to Bayern Munich. However, coach Vincent Kompany expressed satisfaction with the Senegalese striker's performance. “I have a different opinion of Nicolas Jackson than the public, but obviously when he scores a few goals there won't be a debate anymore,” Kompany stated at a press conference on Tuesday.

He continued, “I'm of the opinion that he's already helped a lot,” in anticipation of Bayern's DFB-Pokal second-round match against 1. FC Köln on Wednesday.

Aside from the suspended Manuel Neuer and long-term absentees Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, and Jamal Musiala, Kompany has a full squad available for the upcoming game. This is particularly beneficial as Bayern is set to face Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League within the next week.

“It's up to Manuel if he comes with us or not. He needs to prepare for Leverkusen. That's his job. But we're playing again very quickly after Köln, so his preparation is key. Beyond that, things look good. We've got Raphael Guerreiro back fit. Josip Stanisic and Serge Gnabry are also back. The squad is as we'd want it going into these three games,” Kompany added.
