Blessin Regrets Critical Errors Following Fifth Consecutive Defeat for St. Pauli

FC St. Pauli experienced their fifth consecutive defeat on Saturday, losing 2-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Following the match, head coach Alexander Blessin acknowledged that the team's mistakes were detrimental to their performance. He specifically pointed out the incident leading to the first goal, where goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj mishandled a cross, allowing Jonathan Burkardt to score.

“We never gave up today, but we conceded cheaply again. As in the last four or five games, we were punished for our mistakes. We weren't tight enough before the first goal. Niko has rescued so many points for us, but when he made the mistake today, we weren't there,” Blessin stated.

He also mentioned the second goal, expressing disappointment over a disallowed goal due to a narrow offside, which he believed could have positively impacted the team's morale. “I've told the lads it can only go in one direction now. We have to fight with everything we have and go into the tackles the way we should. We need the whole team for that,” he added.

St. Pauli will now focus on their upcoming DFB-Pokal match against Hoffenheim on Tuesday.
