Borussia Dortmund's sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, expressed confusion regarding rumors that summer signing Carney Chukwuemeka requires knee surgery. Following a 2-0 victory over Heidenheim, Kehl addressed the issue, stating, “I also read this news that you are reading. It's a story that's completely made up.”
Kehl emphasized that the club was not informed about any such medical concerns and criticized the spread of false information regarding player health. He clarified, “He was here [in Heidenheim] and no surgery is planned for the winter, just to make that clear,” assuring fans of Chukwuemeka’s well-being.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who joined Dortmund permanently for €20 million in August, was reported by Ruhr Nachrichten to potentially need an operation for a loose knee joint. However, Kehl's comments suggest this is inaccurate, and Chukwuemeka is expected to participate in the upcoming Champions League match against Juventus.
In related news, Chelsea loanee Anselmino did not play against Heidenheim due to fitness issues, but there is hope that he will be cleared to join the team in Turin for the Champions League opener.
