DFB Imposes Suspension on Baumgart Following Red Card Incident and Gesture

Steffen Baumgart has been suspended for one game following his red card during a match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The head coach of 1. FC Union Berlin, Baumgart, received a one-game ban and a fine of €15,000.

The suspension stems from an incident where he threw a paper ball onto the pitch. The German Football Association (DFB) also reviewed a separate incident in which he displayed his middle finger. However, due to his apology and the DFB sports court's conclusion that the gesture was not directed at an individual, Baumgart received only a one-game suspension.

Consequently, Baumgart will be absent for Union’s upcoming match against Hamburger SV, a team he previously managed, on Sunday.
