Germany's popular tabloid reports that the likelihood of Granit Xhaka remaining at Bayer Leverkusen is increasing.
An agreement between Bayer Leverkusen and Sunderland for Xhaka is currently deemed highly improbable.
Xhaka has communicated to the executives at the Bundesliga club that he is fully committed to staying at Leverkusen if the transfer deal does not materialize.
Sunderland has proposed a yearly wage of €10 million for Xhaka, which is an increase from his current salary of €7 million, but has imposed a maximum budget for the transfer.
As a result, Bayer Leverkusen has indicated that they will not substantially raise their initial offer of approximately €10 million.
The valuation set by the newly promoted Premier League side for the Swiss midfielder falls significantly short of Leverkusen's asking price of €20 million.
