Werder Bremen has announced the contract extension of Belgian midfielder Senne Lynen as part of their preparations for the upcoming season.
The 26-year-old Lynen, who joined the Bundesliga club from Union Saint-Gilloise for a reported fee of €2.5 million in 2023, has played a significant role in Bremen's midfield over the past two seasons.
During his time at Bremen, the club has also secured new contracts for young players Patrice Covic and Karim Coulibaly.
Peter Niemeyer, the head of professional football at Bremen, stated, "Senne strongly identifies with Werder and the path we have taken here. He has clearly committed to this." He also noted that Lynen has made a positive impression on the new coach.
New coach Horst Steffen remarked, "In the first few days, I’ve seen that Senne is an intelligent and confident footballer who can provide important impetus to our game from the defensive midfield. Therefore, I'm looking forward to continuing to work with him."
After signing the new deal, Lynen expressed his comfort in Bremen, stating, "I feel very comfortable in Bremen – both in the city with my family and at the club. We have made very good progress with the team over the past two years, and I am very keen to take further steps with the club. That's why I have decided to extend my contract early."
