In a recent interview, Lothar Matthaüs expressed strong support for the potential transfer of Nick Woltemade to Bayern Munich.
The former Bayern Munich player and club legend stated that he has admired the 23-year-old for a significant period. He emphasized, "I've been saying it for a long time: Woltemade is a player for FC Bayern. And I think it's right that Bayern are trying to get him."
Matthaüs commented on the proposed transfer fee, noting that he believes the €60 million valuation is too low. He suggested that a fee in the range of €80-100 million would be more appropriate.
He also mentioned the strategic importance of acquiring Woltemade as a potential replacement for Harry Kane in the future, stating, “It might be good for Bayern to think ahead and get Woltemade as a false 9 for the post-Harry Kane era.”
Despite his enthusiasm for the transfer, Matthaüs advised that there should be no rush from Woltemade's side, as the player still needs time to develop. He recommended that Woltemade's management focus on negotiating for the season after the next rather than the upcoming one.
Matthaüs highlighted Woltemade's successful year at VfB, which included a Pokal win and participation in the national team for the Nations League, as well as success with the U21s. He concluded by stating that Woltemade will have ample playing time at VfB next season, allowing him to continue his development in a stable environment.
