Jakub Zieliński Joins VfL Wolfsburg

17-year-old Polish goalkeeping talent Jakub Zieliński has signed a three-year contract with VfL Wolfsburg, joining from Ekstraklasa side Legia Warszawa.

The club officially announced Zieliński's arrival on Tuesday, confirming that the contract will run until the summer of 2028.

Zieliński, hailing from Gdańsk, Poland, recently represented the Polish under-17 national team and gained experience in the UEFA Youth League with Legia's under-19 squad. He recorded four clean sheets in seventeen appearances for Legia Warszawa's reserve team and has trained with the first team. Reports indicate that the transfer fee for Zieliński was approximately €900,000, with an additional conditional bonus of €400,000.

According to Kicker, Zieliński is expected to serve as the fourth-string goalkeeper for the main team, while primarily competing with the under-19 team in the 2025/26 season under head coach Daniel Bauer, a former interim coach for Wolfsburg.

This transfer follows the departures of Niklas Klinger and Philipp Schulze during the summer transfer window, leaving Pavao Pervan, Marius Müller, and fellow Pole Kamil Grabara as the remaining goalkeepers at the Volkswagen Arena for the upcoming season.
