Earlier this month, Jamal Musiala shared an update on his recovery, expressing hope of making Germany’s squad for the UEFA Nations League Final Four tournament in June.
The Bayern Munich star has returned to training after recovering from a torn muscle bundle in his thigh, which he sustained in April, and could potentially be an option off the bench for the tournament.
However, according to Kicker, Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann has opted to exclude Musiala from the squad following a request from Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl, prioritizing the player's long-term fitness.
Kicker also reports that the tournament comes too early for Antonio Rüdiger, who is still recovering from knee surgery.
Kai Havertz (Arsenal) and Marc-André ter Stegen (Barcelona) may also miss out, as both players have only recently returned from injury and are still regaining full match fitness.
Germany is set to face Portugal on June 4, while Spain will meet France in the other semi-final the following day.
