Kaoru Mitoma and Rafael Leão Linked to FC Bayern Transfer Interests

The 28-year-old Japanese winger, Kaoru Mitoma, and the 25-year-old Portuguese winger, Rafael Leão, are both attracting interest from FC Bayern München as the club prepares for its Bundesliga title defense in August.

Mitoma, hailing from Oita Prefecture in Japan, has become a focal point of transfer speculation, particularly following his performance in the 2024/25 Premier League season, where he scored ten goals and provided three assists in thirty-five appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion. Reports indicate that Bayern scouts have visited Brighton multiple times over the past year, with management considering a transfer offer between €40 million and €45 million.

Additionally, Sky's Florian Plettenberg notes that while Mitoma is on the shortlist of Vincent Kompany, Bayern is also assessing various options, with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund evaluating the market for potential signings.

Leão, currently under contract with AC Milan until 2028, is another player on Bayern's radar. Plettenberg reports that his agent, Jorge Mendes, has a positive relationship with Eberl, and discussions regarding a possible move to Germany have taken place recently. While Mitoma is the primary target, Leão is considered a secondary option, along with Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

Falk has indicated that Bayern's attempts to sign Marseille winger Luis Henrique are unlikely to succeed, as the player is expected to transfer to Inter Milan instead.

Bayern is closely monitoring the forward market in anticipation of potential departures of key players like Leroy Sané or Kingsley Coman during the summer transfer window, which opens in nine days. Sixtus reports that Mitoma's ability to cut inside and deliver powerful shots with his right foot aligns with the club's needs.

If Bayern proceeds with an offer for Mitoma, it would mark the second time Brighton has received a transfer bid for him in the past year, having previously rejected a €90 million offer from Al-Nassr SC last winter.
