Contract negotiations between Werder Bremen and player Oliver Burke are encountering difficulties, as the Scotsman has reportedly turned down two offers from the club.
Burke’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, leaving his future at Werder in question.
Despite ongoing discussions regarding a potential new deal, no agreement has yet been reached. Reports suggest that the core issue lies in Werder’s offer of significantly lower wages compared to the €1.2 million Burke currently earns.
Peter Niemeyer, Werder’s head of professional football, stated, “We’re still in constructive talks. We’re not giving updates on the current status.”
At 28 years old, Burke has gained importance for the team as the season has progressed, having started the last seven matches and scored three goals in his past three appearances.
