Gustavo Puerta has joined Hull City on a permanent basis for an estimated fee of €3.8 million, having utilized the club's “option to buy” clause.
Puerta has officially left Bayer Leverkusen, where he made only 10 appearances despite being considered a significant prospect at the beginning of his tenure.
Since moving to Hull City, the Colombian midfielder has played in 28 matches. The club is currently striving to avoid relegation to the third tier of football, with Puerta scoring his only goal during an FA Cup match against Doncaster Rovers.
In light of Puerta's departure, Bayer Leverkusen is expected to undergo a squad overhaul this summer, with notable players such as Xabi Alonso and Florian Wirtz potentially leaving the team. Puerta's permanent transfer marks the first significant exit for the club this season.
