FC Barcelona is reportedly interested in Alejandro Grimaldo, with discussions already in progress regarding a potential transfer.
Grimaldo, currently playing for Bayer 04 Leverkusen, is being linked with a return to his former club. According to reports, Barcelona is exploring the option of re-signing the left-back, who was part of their youth academy.
Despite being under contract with Bayer 04 until 2027, Grimaldo could be permitted to leave for a transfer fee estimated between €30 million and €40 million.
Having spent eight years at Barcelona's La Masia academy from 2008 to 2016, Grimaldo did not make any senior appearances for the team. His career progressed significantly after joining Benfica, where he became recognized as a high-caliber full-back before transferring to Leverkusen in 2023.
Recently, Grimaldo expressed his aspiration to return to Spain in the near future, stating, “I want to return to Spain in the short and medium term… it is my country. I want to play there and enjoy the experience, and that's one of my goals.” He also reflected on his time at La Masia, highlighting his long-standing dream of playing for Barcelona's first team.
