Bremen and St. Pauli End in Draw


Werder Bremen and St. Pauli played to a 0-0 draw at Weserstadion in a match characterized by tension and missed opportunities.

The first half was closely contested, with both teams creating several chances but failing to score. St. Pauli’s Carlo Boukhalfa had a notable attempt, sending a shot over the bar in the 43rd minute after an assist from Philipp Treu. Earlier, Hauke Wahl's shot from the center of the box was blocked following a pass from Morgan Guilavogui.

Bremen's defense faced multiple challenges, with both sides having shots blocked within the box. Despite moments of chaos, neither team managed to find the back of the net, and the first half concluded goalless.

The second half commenced with both teams eager to make an impact. Werder Bremen earned an early corner after Niklas Stark's header was saved by Nikola Vasilj. Shortly thereafter, Mitchell Weiser won a free kick for Bremen after being fouled by Eric Smith.

In the 58th minute, Werder's Justin Njinmah tested St. Pauli goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj with a left-footed shot, which the keeper saved. Njinmah had another opportunity shortly after, but his right-footed shot missed to the right.

A foul by Werder’s Jens Stage resulted in a free kick for St. Pauli in the 61st minute. St. Pauli made their first substitution of the half in the 62nd minute, bringing on Elias Saad for Noah Weißhaupt. Manolis Saliakas of St. Pauli received a yellow card in the 63rd minute for a foul on Felix Agu.

Werder maintained possession, with Justin Njinmah winning another free kick after a foul by Siebe Van der Heyden. Bremen made their first substitution in the 69th minute, introducing Oliver Burke for Njinmah. Burke had a chance to score in the 71st minute, but his shot was blocked by St. Pauli's defense.

As the match progressed, Bremen believed they had taken the lead through Burke in the 80th minute, but a VAR check confirmed he was offside. Despite numerous attempts and substitutions, the match concluded without any goals, reflecting the struggles of both teams to find the decisive touch in a hard-fought contest.
