Leverkusen Targets AC Milan Defender as Potential Replacement for Tah

Reports indicate that Bayer Leverkusen is targeting Malick Thiaw as a potential replacement for Jonathan Tah, whose departure appears imminent.

According to BILD, Leverkusen has been interested in the former Schalke defender for some time, and discussions may intensify in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Thiaw, who previously played for Leverkusen at the youth level, is reportedly open to returning to the Bundesliga.

The German international's contract with AC Milan runs until 2027, and the club is seeking a decision regarding his future, either to extend his commitment or to facilitate a transfer.

If Leverkusen successfully transfers Odilion Kossounou to Atalanta, the funds could potentially be redirected to meet Thiaw's rumored transfer fee of approximately €25 million.

A move to Leverkusen, the reigning German champions, could enhance Thiaw's prospects of being selected for the 2026 World Cup, as regular playing time at the BayArena may improve his chances, especially since he has not featured for the national team since Julian Nagelsmann took charge.
