FC Schalke 04 has announced that goalkeeper Loris Karius will not return to play for the remainder of the season due to a calf injury.
The injury occurred during Schalke's recent 3-3 draw against Greuther Fürth, resulting in Karius being substituted from the match.
Schalke 04's director of professional football, Youri Mulder, expressed support for Karius, stating, "We will support Loris as best we can in his recovery along with our medical staff. His injury comes at a frustrating time but his health is the most important thing."
Karius, 31, joined Schalke on a free transfer in January, signing a contract that extends through the current season. He has made four appearances for the team in the 2. Bundesliga.
