Julian Nagelsmann and Luciano Spalletti have announced their starting lineups for the second leg of the UEFA Nations League quarter-final tie between Germany and Italy, taking place in Dortmund.
Germany aims to secure their victory against their historical rivals, having made four changes from the team that achieved a 2-1 win in Milan earlier this week. Tim Kleindienst, who scored Germany's equalizer as a substitute, replaces Jonathan Burkardt, who is part of the squad despite missing training due to injury. Nico Schlotterbeck also starts, while David Raum will begin the match on the bench.
In addition to these changes, Stuttgart players Angelo Stiller and Maximilian Mittelstädt have been promoted to the starting XI, replacing Pascal Groß and Nadim Amiri. Germany is expected to adopt a similar back three system to Italy, as they did in the second half of the previous match.
On the Italian side, Spalletti faces challenges due to the absence of key players. Riccardo Calafiori is sidelined with an ankle sprain, and Mateo Retegui is only fit enough to start on the bench. Alessandro Buongiorno will take Calafiori's place, while Federico Gatti is another addition to Italy's back three. Daniel Maldini, son of Paolo Maldini, will make his full international debut as he leads the attack alongside Moise Kean.
Before the match, home fans are set to display a choreographed tribute for the 125th anniversary of the DFB. The game will be officiated by Polish referee Szymon Marciniak.
Confirmed lineups for the match are as follows:
Germany (3-4-2-1): Baumann - Schlotterbeck, Tah, Rüdiger - Kimmich (c), Stiller, Goretzka, Mittelstädt - Sané, Musiala - Kleindienst
Italy (3-5-2): Donnarumma (c) - Buongiorno, Bastoni, Gatti - Di Lorenzo, Ricci, Tonali, Barella, Udogie - Maldini, Kean
