Bayern Munich Faces Eintracht Frankfurt in Consecutive Meisterschale Matches

Bayern Munich will face a challenging match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday in the Bundesliga, seeking to recover from a significant 5-1 defeat at Deutsche Bank Park last season.

In their previous match, Bayern Munich advanced to the last-16 of the tournament thanks to a late goal from Alphonso Davies, overcoming a resilient Celtic team.

The upcoming match against third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt follows a tough encounter with Leverkusen last week. Harry Kane was substituted at halftime during the match against Celtic due to injury, casting doubt on his availability for the Frankfurt game.

Despite potential concerns in the attack, Bayern's defense remains strong, with Manuel Neuer recording clean sheets in his last two Bundesliga matches. However, the absence of Kane could be significant, as Bayern's only loss this season occurred when he was not on the field.

Bayern manager Vincent Kompany acknowledged the challenge posed by Frankfurt, stating, “We're playing against the team in third. They've done a lot right this season and there are a lot of players at Frankfurt now that are very close to taking the next step.”

In terms of team news, Harry Kane is doubtful due to a calf issue, and backup goalkeeper Daniel Peretz is also uncertain with a kidney problem.

On the other hand, Eintracht Frankfurt did not compete midweek, having automatically qualified for the last-16 of the Europa League, where they will face Ajax. Frankfurt is currently on a seven-match unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga, marking their longest run under coach Dino Toppmöller.

As they sit in third place, Frankfurt aims to achieve their highest Bundesliga position since 1993. In recent encounters with Bayern, Frankfurt has drawn twice and won once in their last five matches.

Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmöller remarked on the upcoming challenge, saying, “We're facing an extremely powerful side, but we are travelling to Munich in third place and are having a great season.”

In terms of injuries, Robin Koch is sidelined with a shoulder injury, while Éric Dina Ebimbe and Igor Matanović are also out due to calf and foot injuries, respectively. Additionally, Mario Götze is a doubt due to illness.
