Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is focused on building momentum following back-to-back Premier League victories, as the team's injury situation begins to improve.
The recent wins against Brentford and Manchester United have propelled Spurs to 12th place in the league, alleviating concerns about potential relegation.
Prior to these matches, Tottenham had recorded only one win in their last 11 league games, leading to a significant drop in the standings due to accumulating injuries.
Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and match-winner James Maddison returned to the starting lineup for the game against Manchester United, while Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, and Destiny Udogie were available from the bench.
Centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are expected to be fit for the upcoming Europa League match against AZ Alkmaar next month.
Before that, Postecoglou aims to improve Spurs' league position with matches against Ipswich on Sunday and a home game against Manchester City on Thursday.
“Our last two Premier League games have been important results for us to try and arrest our form in the league,” Postecoglou stated. “But you need to keep backing that up.”
He acknowledged the challenges of playing away from home, particularly against a determined Ipswich side, but sees it as an opportunity for a strong performance and positive result to establish a foundation for future matches.
The manager also indicated that players like Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski may be rested for the Ipswich match, given the heavy workload during the injury crisis.
“Once Europe kicks in, we know we’ve got to play midweek and weekend again, so we want to ensure we’ve got enough in the tank,” Postecoglou added. “We’ve got an opportunity to maintain good levels of performance while also giving them a little bit of a rest.”
