Ange Faces Criticism Following Poor Premier League Defeat as Tottenham Fans Express Anger Over Another Target

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou acknowledged his responsibility to improve the team's performance following a 3-2 defeat to Everton, which allowed the Toffees to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Everton, who had struggled to score in previous matches, capitalized on Tottenham's weakened defense, scoring three goals before halftime through Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Iliman Ndiaye, and an own goal from Archie Gray. This victory marked Everton's first win in seven league games, moving them four points clear of the relegation zone.

Tottenham's loss was their 12th in the Premier League this season, leaving them just four points above Everton in 15th place, intensifying scrutiny on Postecoglou's management. However, it was chairman Daniel Levy who faced criticism from traveling supporters calling for changes at the club.

Postecoglou emphasized his focus on the players available to him, stating, "This is not about me, but what is about me is I have a responsibility to the players I do have." He noted that the team was missing 10 first-team players due to injury.

David Moyes, who recently returned to manage Everton, celebrated his first victory in his second stint, expressing satisfaction with the team's performance. He remarked, "We played ever so well in the first half, scored three and could have scored more."

Calvert-Lewin, who had not scored since September, opened the scoring for Everton and was instrumental in their attacking play. Tottenham's defensive struggles were evident, particularly in the absence of key players, including first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and several defenders.

Despite Tottenham's attempts to rally, including a goal from Dejan Kulusevski and a stoppage-time effort from Richarlison, they were unable to overcome the deficit. Postecoglou remains optimistic about the future, stating, "We’re still in all four competitions. Our league position is not great to say the least but eventually our players will come back." He expressed hope that the return of injured players would lead to a more successful season.
