Openda Contributes to Leipzig's Narrow Victory Against Eintracht Frankfurt


RB Leipzig secured a narrow victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday during matchday 14 of the Bundesliga, with a decisive goal from Loïs Openda in the second half.

Coach Marco Rose's RB Leipzig made two changes to the lineup, bringing in Kevin Kampl and Xaver Schlager.

Leipzig started the match strongly, with Openda having an early goal disallowed for offside within the first minute.

In the 19th minute, Leipzig took the lead when Benjamin Šeško scored with a header from six yards out.

Leipzig continued to apply pressure for the next 15 minutes, but in the 32nd minute, Eintracht's Omar Marmoush struck the crossbar.

Frankfurt equalized shortly after, with Nathaniel Brown scoring in the 40th minute following Marmoush's near miss, bringing the score to 1-1.

In the second half, Openda found the net in the 52nd minute, scoring from a corner after being left unmarked at the back post, putting Leipzig ahead 2-1.

Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush came close to scoring again in the 55th minute, nearly capitalizing on a defensive error from Leipzig.

Ansgar Knauff of Eintracht missed a chance in the 68th minute, shooting wide of the post.

Leipzig's Antonio Nusa was unable to convert a counter-attack opportunity in the 78th minute, despite being set up by Šeško.

In the final moments of the match, a goal from Šeško in the 90th minute was disallowed by VAR for offside, ensuring the final score remained 2-1 in favor of Leipzig.

This victory keeps Leipzig in fourth place, now level on points with Eintracht Frankfurt, both teams having 27 points after fourteen matches.
