Freiburg coach Julian Schuster and captain Christian Günter acknowledged the quality of Florian Wirtz after their defeat against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
Wirtz had an outstanding performance in Bayer Leverkusen's 5-1 victory over Freiburg, scoring a goal and providing three assists after initially missing a penalty.
In a post-match interview, Schuster expressed admiration for the 21-year-old's talent, stating, “If I was 10 years old, I'd buy a shirt straight away. That's the kind quality you like to see when you're the coach of Leverkusen.”
Günter also praised Wirtz's performance, saying, “When you love football and can watch him, it's unbelievable what he is bringing to the pitch. It's crazy.” He noted that he had played alongside Wirtz for the national team three years ago and recognized his potential even then. However, as an opponent, he admitted, “It really annoys me and I don't like to watch him play. But the guy is incredible, a blessing for football in Germany.”
