Augsburg sporting director Marinko Jurendic has confirmed that Ruben Vargas does not wish to extend his contract, which is set to expire in the summer.
Vargas, an attacking midfielder, has expressed his desire to leave FC Augsburg. Jurendic stated, "Ruben has informed us that he does not want to renew his contract and that he wants to leave the club," according to Augsburger Allgemeine.
The club had intentions to extend Vargas's contract and had even presented him with a new offer, as noted by Jurendic.
Vargas may depart Augsburg as early as January, which would be the club's final opportunity to receive a transfer fee for him.
Several clubs, including Sevilla FC, Villarreal, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Eintracht Frankfurt, have shown interest in the Swiss international.
