Sven-Goran Eriksson dead at 76-years-old

Sven-Goran Eriksson, England's first foreign manager, has died at the age of 76. In January, he had revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer and had estimated that he had "at best" a year to live. Eriksson is best known for leading England to three quarter finals in major tournaments and for his successful coaching stints in domestic club football. He notably excelled in Serie A with teams like Lazio and Sampdoria, and also had successful spells in the Premier League with Manchester City and Leicester City. Throughout his career, Eriksson also managed teams in several other countries, including Mexico, the Ivory Coast, and his last role as the national team manager of the Philippines. Many will remember Eriksson as the coach of the English national team during the era of players like David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, and Ashley Cole. In May 2024, Eriksson fulfilled his dream of managing Liverpool in a friendly match.
