Crystal Palace make late offer for Arsenal striker

Crystal Palace have joined the competition to secure the signing of Arsenal's striker Eddie Nketiah, stepping in at the last minute as Nketiah seemed poised to join Premier League side Nottingham Forest before the transfer window closed. Nketiah was on Arsenal's bench during their recent win over Aston Villa, and manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that players may leave the club before the transfer window closes. While Nketiah seemed close to agreeing on personal terms with Forest, Arsenal and Forest have not yet reached an agreement. Arsenal had been seeking £30 million for Nketiah, which is higher than Forest's valuation of £25 million. On the other hand, Crystal Palace is willing to pay £30 million and can offer Nketiah regular playing opportunities. It is reported that Nketiah's departure will open up a spot in Arsenal's squad for the signing of an undisclosed forward before the transfer window shuts. Mikel Arteta is seeking a backup for Kai Havertz and the injury-prone Gabriel Jesus.
