Arsenal and Chelsea are both keen on acquiring Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams in the current transfer window. Williams, who is considered one of the top wingers in the Spanish top-flight, had an impressive 2023/24 season with eight goals and 19 assists. The Athletic reports that both Arsenal and Chelsea are vying for his signature. Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is interested in bringing him to the club if the club's leadership approves the signing of another wide attacking player. Williams currently has a release clause of £47m in his contract, and the possibility of a transfer largely depends on his own preferences. While he has expressed a desire to join his close friend Lamine Yamal at Barcelona, the financial challenges facing the La Liga club may open the door for either Arsenal or Chelsea to persuade him to make a move.
