Irankunda Signs with Watford

Championship side Watford have finalized the acquisition of Nestory Irankunda from Bayern Munich.

Nestory Irankunda departs Bayern Munich on a permanent transfer to Watford. The Australian international spent his last season with Bayern's amateur team and had a loan period at Grasshoppers.

Jochen Sauer, Director of Youth Development and Campus at Bayern, noted, "Nestory has repeatedly demonstrated his great potential with our amateurs and then with Grasshoppers in Zurich." Sauer also indicated that Bayern will monitor Irankunda closely, as the club holds a buyback option on the player, who was originally signed from Adelaide United for €900,000. Watford has secured the youngster on a five-year deal.

Watford’s Sporting Director, Gian Luca Nani, expressed confidence in Irankunda's potential: “Nestory can be a very special player and we believe he can realize his potential here, with us."
