Hannover Secures Centre-Back Ghiță in Strategic Recruitment

Hannover 96 has announced the signing of defender Virgil Ghiță, who previously played in Romania and Poland. The club confirmed that they will pay approximately €1 million to Polish side Cracovia for his transfer.

Ghiță, who is 27 years old and has earned three caps for the Romanian national team, has signed a contract that will keep him at Niedersachsenstadion until 2028.

This signing marks Hannover's twelfth addition during the summer transfer window, enhancing the team's defensive options.

Managing director Marcus Mann expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Virgil is an exceptionally fast yet robust central defender. He has a good mentality, defends forward, and tries to create and push forward situations even when in possession. With these attributes, he fits the profile we need for our game very well. In addition, he wants to lead the way,” he explained.
