Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly interested in signing VfL Wolfsburg striker Mohamed Amoura, who has had a notable season with 10 goals and nine assists in 31 matches.
Amoura, currently on loan from Union Saint-Gilloise, has attracted attention from various Bundesliga teams and top European clubs. Bayer Leverkusen is seen as the leading contender for the Algerian international's signature following his impressive performance during the 2024/25 season.
The Leverkusen management believes Amoura's speed, creativity, and game intelligence make him a suitable fit for the team, especially with a coaching change anticipated after Xabi Alonso's departure.
His contributions have been recognized across Germany, particularly highlighted by his assist for Lukas Nmecha's decisive goal in a recent victory against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
With potential departures of key players Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, Leverkusen is prepared to invest in new talent, eyeing a transfer fee in the range of €40 million to €50 million for Amoura. This figure has been under consideration since March.
Leverkusen may face competition from several top European clubs, particularly from the Premier League. Nottingham Forest has been linked to Amoura but has yet to make an offer. Liverpool previously expressed interest in both Amoura and Greek defender Konstantinos Koulierakis, but no formal bid has been submitted.
Amoura is contracted to Wolfsburg for another four years, and while the club is known for developing and selling players for profit, managing director Peter Christiansen stated there is "no chance" of Amoura leaving. However, sporting director Sebastian Schindelorz indicated that they may consider offers for certain players.
The summer transfer window will have a preliminary period from June 1 to June 10, coinciding with the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, during which clubs can submit proposals to Wolfsburg.
