Simon Rolfes expressed his satisfaction after Bayer Leverkusen narrowed the gap to Bayern Munich to four points following a 2-0 victory against Augsburg.
Leverkusen achieved their seventh consecutive win on Saturday, demonstrating strong control throughout the match.
"We concentrated on our passing and were in control of the game. We also had the feel for the right ball at the right time. It was a mature, grown-up performance," Rolfes stated in an interview with Sky Germany.
This victory allowed Leverkusen to capitalize on Bayern Munich's unexpected 2-1 loss to Mainz, increasing the pressure on the league leaders.
Rolfes noted the importance of their performance without directly referencing Bayern Munich, saying, "I have seen the results. What matters is the result here."
He added, “Last year we didn't pay too much attention to what the others were doing. What we're working towards is showing our strength every three days. That puts pressure on the other clubs, in whatever form. Then they might drop points.”
Eintracht Frankfurt has the opportunity to reclaim second place, one point ahead of Bayer Leverkusen and three points behind Bayern, if they secure a win against RB Leipzig on Sunday.
