Bayern Munich faced a significant injury setback during their 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, as star striker Harry Kane was forced to leave the match in the first half.
Following the game, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany provided an update, indicating that while the initial assessment suggested the injury might not be severe, Kane is expected to miss the upcoming DFB-Pokal match against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.
“Harry says it’s not that bad. He now needs to have a scan, and then we’ll know more,” Kompany stated. “It’ll be tight for Tuesday. I don’t know many players who recover that quickly,” he added.
Sporting director Christoph Freund also commented on Kane’s condition, noting, “Harry felt something in the back of his thigh. We’ll have a look back home and hope it’s not that bad.”
In contrast, Freund confirmed that Kim Minjae, who was substituted in the 80th minute, is fit to play. “Minjae has needed to be stitched up, but he’s a machine. It won’t affect him. He’ll be available again immediately,” Freund remarked.
