Thorup Asserts Vargas is Prepared for Playing Time Against Bayern

FC Augsburg trainer Jess Thorup announced during his Wednesday pre-match press conference that attacker Ruben Vargas is prepared to participate in the upcoming match against Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga will continue this Friday with a match between FC Augsburg and FC Bayern München, marking the 11th matchday of the 2024/25 season. Thorup's team, known as the Bavarian Swabians, will face the German record champions at the Allianz Arena.

Despite being the underdogs, FC Augsburg will have the option of utilizing Vargas, who has recovered from an ankle injury that sidelined him since match-day six. Thorup highlighted the success of the attacking pair Philipp Tietz and Alexis Claude-Maurice during Vargas's absence, though the limitations of this duo were evident in the recent 0-0 draw against Hoffenheim.

At the press conference, Thorup remarked on the challenging decisions he faces regarding the attack. The team recently demonstrated their potential with a dominant 7-0 victory over FC Ingolstadt 04 in a test match.

"Ruben is fit, though not yet ready for 90 minutes," Thorup stated. "There are tough choices. I personally believe something is possible [against the favorites]."
