Baumgart, who previously managed SC Paderborn 07 and 1. FC Köln, was let go by Hamburger SV after failing to secure promotion last year. Currently, the team sits in seventh place in the 2. Bundesliga table, having earned 20 points from 13 matches this season.
In a recent match, Baumgart's team squandered a 2-0 halftime lead against FC Schalke 04 in a significant second division fixture. It is anticipated that Baumgart will be linked with top-flight coaching positions before the season concludes. Throughout his career, he has coached 34 Bundesliga matches with Paderborn during the 2019/20 season and has managed 98 games in total during his tenure in Köln.
