Manchester United might surprise everyone by attempting to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams next year, as reported by Fichajes. Despite spending nearly £200 million on new players this summer, the Red Devils have struggled in the Premier League. After finishing eighth last season, they currently have only seven points this season and are six points behind the top four. Fichajes suggests that United are looking to outmaneuver Barcelona in securing Williams' services, even though he has been on the radar of the La Liga giants for some time. Williams has a release clause of £48 million and could ask for a weekly wage of around £300,000. United can afford these terms and face competition from Arsenal, who have also shown interest in the player.
