Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag prevented the club from signing Ivan Toney from Brentford during the recent summer transfer window, as reported by ESPN. Despite the Red Devils' interest in adding a new striker, Toney was not pursued after being initially considered a top target. Instead, United opted to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for approximately £34m. Toney eventually moved to Al Ahli for £40m. It has been disclosed that Ten Hag's reservations about Toney's suitability for the club, particularly his inconsistent pressing ability, led to United's decision not to pursue the transfer. While Toney is now playing in the Saudi Pro League, it remains uncertain if he will make a return to English football in the future.
