Arsenal and defender Omar Rekik have reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract on transfer deadline day, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Rekik, who joined the Gunners from Hertha's academy three years ago, did not make any competitive appearances during his time with the club. After being loaned out to three different clubs, Arsenal have decided to release him as a free agent. This decision was made before the 11pm deadline to allow Rekik to find a new club, with reported interest from the Championship. In addition to Rekik's departure, Arsenal also sold Eddie Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale to Crystal Palace and Southampton, respectively. Reiss Nelson was loaned out to Fulham, while the club made notable signings in Neto and Raheem Sterling on year-long loans. Neto will serve as cover for David Raya as the second-choice goalkeeper, and Sterling could provide competition for Bukayo Saka on the right wing.
