PSG defend league title ahead of resurgent Lyon and Monaco - Ligue 1 in 2014/15

The 2014-15 season in French football was an exciting one, particularly given the typically low standards of the modern game in France. PSG finished eight points ahead of Lyon, with a close race for European football just below them. Monaco claimed the Champions League spot, with Marseille and Saint-Etienne following closely. There were significant changes in management and player transfers at the top clubs, with Marseille bringing in Marcelo Bielsa and Monaco adopting a more financially conservative approach. PSG made relatively few moves in the transfer market, signing David Luiz. The early part of the season belonged to Marseille, but they eventually faltered, allowing PSG to claim the title. Alexandre Lacazette was the standout player of the season, while Laurent Blanc was named Manager of the Season. Nabil Fekir was recognized as the Young Player of the Season, and Lacazette was the top goalscorer. The Team of the Season included notable players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva. The most expensive transfer was David Luiz's move from Chelsea to PSG for €50m. The key moment of the season was the match between Marseille and PSG, where PSG's victory effectively secured their position at the top of the league for the rest of the season.
